Craft Cocktails, Bold Flavors, Fair Lawn's Finest

An upscale gastropub on Maple Ave serving contemporary American cuisine with an Irish soul and exceptional craft cocktails.

About Us

A variety of colorful cocktails arranged on a table with autumn decor. — The Craftsman
A variety of colorful cocktails arranged on a table with autumn decor.

Fourteen hundred square feet of exposed brick, warm lighting, and the kind of bar program that actually earns the word craft. The Craftsman on Maple Avenue is a gastropub built around two things: food that respects its ingredients and cocktails pressed from real, cold-pressed juices. The contemporary American menu carries a clear Irish influence, the kind you taste rather than just read about on a chalkboard.

With a 4.6-star rating across nearly 2,000 reviews, the regulars aren't shy about what keeps them coming back. Bridal showers, Galentine's brunches, Easter family gatherings, the private event spaces here handle milestone moments as naturally as they handle a Tuesday happy hour. Tommy and the rest of the team have built a reputation for being genuinely accommodating, not just professionally polite.

Saturday and Sunday brunch runs from 11 AM, giving Fair Lawn something the neighborhood was missing: a spot that transitions gracefully from bellinis and mimosas at noon to craft cocktails and a late-night menu well past midnight. Seven days a week, no exceptions.

What We Offer

The bar program leads with cold-pressed craft cocktails, rotating seasonal builds that use real juice instead of shortcuts. Pair that with a curated craft beer selection and you have a drinks menu worth returning to repeatedly. Happy hour runs on weekdays and gives the after-work crowd a genuine reason to stop in before dinner.

Dining runs the full arc of the day. Weekend brunch starts at 11 AM with a menu that covers both the regular lineup and seasonal specials. Dinner service carries through to midnight on weekdays and 2 AM on Saturdays, supported by a late-night menu for anyone who shows up after the kitchen at every other spot in Bergen County has already closed.

Private events are a real specialty here. The team handles everything from intimate birthday dinners to full bridal shower brunches, with dedicated coordination to make the logistics invisible. Check the upcoming events calendar on the website for ticketed nights, themed dinners, and community gatherings hosted throughout the year.

"Had my sister's bridal shower brunch here recently and was very happy. The food and bellinis/mimosas were very good. Moreover, Tommy was extremely accommodating throughout the entire process, promptly answering our myriad of questions. Tommy ensured we were able to accommodate our guests, gifts/games, dessert, and decorations for the shower. Additionally, we reserved the garden room which went well with our garden party theme. The venue itself is a tad loud but you can still have conversations."

"This was our first time here. We reserved a table for five for Easter Brunch. The place is fantastic. The choices from the regular menu and Easter were very good. There was something for everyone. There was a surf and turf eggs Benedict special (with steak and lobster). My son loved it! My water glass was always full and coffee refilled. The prices were reasonable for the quality. Taylor served us. She was terrific. I got to meet one of the owners, Marilyn. She was so welcoming! We are new to the area. We will be back. (The complimentary valet parking was a nice touch too!)"

"In recent years, gastropubs have emerged as a popular dining option, captivating food enthusiasts with their unique blend of gourmet cuisine and traditional pub culture. The term “gastropub” was coined in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom. Located on busy Maple Avenue in Fairlawn, The Craftsman holds two dining rooms on the main floor: one with “a relaxed sports bar feel” and many televisions, while a more intimate setting awaits on the other side, with a bar on each of those sides. An enclosed garden room called the parlor provides additional seating options with a drag show while we were there, and an event space is available upstairs. Upon entering as first-timers late Saturday morning, my partner and I were greeted by the host without a reservation and got a table by the window in one of their dining rooms, evoking a sense of welcoming and comfort vibe where patrons can gather, socialize, and enjoy a laid-back environment. Their diverse menu consists of contemporary American cuisine with an Irish influence of high-quality dishes, from classic comfort foods to seasonal specialties crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. They often boast an impressive selection of craft beers, wines, and cocktails. We decided on their brunch menu consisting of Short Ribs Skillet and Steak and Eggs. We washed them down with Schöfferhofer (unfiltered wheat beer with grapefruit juice). The food and drinks were amazing. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The service was absolutely spectacular; every staff member was kind and attentive. Our server was J(esus). Whether one’s a foodie seeking new flavors or someone looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a meal with friends, a gastropub provides the ideal setting, which is why we can recommend this place."

"I recently had the opportunity to dine at this establishment for brunch with a colleague. Overall, the experience was satisfactory. While the coconut French toast I ordered could have benefited from enhanced flavor, the accompanying hash browns were quite palatable, albeit slightly over-seasoned. The restaurant's ambiance was pleasant; however, the height of the booths presented a potential accessibility concern, particularly for guests with disabilities, as no apparent accommodations were observed. I would rate my experience a 3.5 out of 5. I would recommend this restaurant primarily to individuals who consume meat, as the vegetarian and vegan options, especially on the brunch menu, were limited. Thank you for your attention to these observations."
